The National Kidney Registry announced a significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to help kidney patients find a living kidney donor. With the addition of the University of Mississippi Medical Center, 60 NKR member transplant centers nationwide now participate in its microsite program. The microsite program provides free websites and coaching to transplant patients seeking a living donor to increase their chances of achieving a living donor transplant.
To date, more than 800 microsite patients have received a living donor transplant.
“Microsites continue to be an invaluable tool for people seeking a living kidney donor,” said Samantha Hil, a living kidney donor transplant recipient and the NKR’s Vice President of Marketing “The impact of getting their story out there to a larger audience is tremendous. Many patients struggle to share their story until they are given the tools and confidence to do so through the microsite program.”
The microsite program is supported by six donor search coaches who are available to all patients who activate a microsite. Donor search coaches are experts at running successful donor search campaigns, either for themselves or someone else. Additionally, donor candidates who initiate the donation process through a patient’s microsite have the option to work with a microsite donor mentor—a living kidney donor who can explain the process, answer questions and offer insights based on their own kidney donation experience.

About Find A Kidney
Living kidney donor transplants last longer than deceased donor transplants, yet of the 18,000 annual kidney transplants, only 6,000 are from living donors. Find A Kidney aims to end that imbalance by giving kidney patients the tools and information they need to find a living donor.
About the National Kidney Registry
